What is Formula Student?
Formula student is an engineering competition where the brightest engineering students from across the globe design, manufacture and race a formula style car against other universities. With this year being the 20th anniversary of the event.

With over 3,500 students from across 30 countries participating in the UK competition alone, the event brings a variety of top engineers and interested employers together. Backed by industry and high profile engineers such as Patron, Ross Brawn OBE, the event has become the standard to meet for students in engineering.
Our Team:
University of Nottingham Racing Team was formed only one year ago but with big ambition fueled by success with our electrically powered super bike which became the 3rd fastest electric bike in the Isle of Man TT history in 2017.

Formed of students from various disciplines of study, across all years and from around the world, our team has developed quickly into a focused and resourceful group that are ready to take on the top contenders.
​
The team is comprised of 8 main teams: Aerodynamics, Mechatronics, Chassis & Controls, Gearbox Brakes & Wheels, Suspension, Electrical Team, Business Team and Media Team. Each team involves 4th year individual project students, 3rd year group design and manufacture students, and extracurricular students from all years and disciplines of study.
Our Car
This year's car becomes the UK's first all wheel drive electric formula student car. Among many impressive features, we are especially proud of using a planetary gearbox for each wheel of the car.
